Knead & Rise

Is our company driven initiative in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on our business, our stakeholders and society at large.

This initiative serves two main purposes:

Keeping our 120 staff employed, thus maintaining their livelihoods and supporting their families.
Feeding the destitute and homeless. By working with a variety of NGO’s and community action groups we are able to reach and feed thousands.

With the assistance of donors, we are aspiring to produce 1,200,000 rolls a month (Roughly 40,000 rolls a day). This would ensure that all of our staff would remain employed and that we would make an impact in over 1,000,000 people’s lives.

Our Story…

Covid-19 has dramatically exacerbated South Africa’s unemployment challenge and people are starving with no end in sight.

Pie in the Sky are fortunate enough to have the tools to make a difference. We call on society at large to assist us in acquiring the resources in order for us to make a material impact on a daily basis for the thousands of livelihoods decimated by the virus, for time to come!

Knead & Rise is not about surviving for the next few weeks, it’s about the sustainability of the business and the bigger picture. We hope to work with all our stakeholders, get our factory moving again; bring our employees back and make a meaningful difference to society.

We are in an incredibly fortunate position to help those who are unable to help themselves; if we can get our facility running at higher capacity levels again, we would have the ability to produce and distribute thousands of bread rolls and other bakery product to those in need!
